Maine Lobster Rolls Vs Connecticut Lobster Rolls
Although they’re both versions of a New England lobster roll, there are some pretty big differences between Maine lobster rolls and Connecticut lobster rolls.
Of course, since my lobster rolls are inspired by Acadia National Park, they’re going to be Maine lobster rolls. This type features cold lobster meat dressed lightly with mayonnaise.
Connecticut lobster rolls, on the other hand, contain hot lobster meat tossed in melted butter. Both of these lobster roll types are served on toasted buttered hot dog bun.
Boiling Your Lobsters
Although you can use store-bought lobster meat to make Maine lobster rolls, I strongly recommend boiling your own lobsters. It doesn’t get any fresher than that.
If you’re wondering how long you should boil a lobster, which is dependent on its size and weight, here’s a handy overview you can use.
A lot has been said about whether or not lobsters can feel pain and that debate is still ongoing.
If you’re boiling your own lobsters, you can make the process as humane as possible by dispatching them before dropping them in the water or, at the very least, numbing them by putting them in the freezer for a while before cooking.

What to Serve With Maine Lobster Rolls?
You can serve these Maine lobster rolls with the classic sandwich sides. Popular sides are kettle chips and a dill pickle (lunch) or French fries and coleslaw (dinner). Often, the lobster salad is topped with a sprinkling of chopped parsley or chives.
These lobster rolls are absolutely delicious as they are and don’t need any complicated side dishes to enhance them. Keep it simple and enjoyable!
