From Waterfalls and Icefields to Snow and Steam – An Iceland Photo Essay

Nothing defines Iceland like water does. Water’s solid state even makes up half of the country’s name… It’s present everywhere in one form or the other, from rushing rivers to enormous glaciers, and from steaming geysers to mountains capped with snow.

During my brief visit to Iceland in January, my priorities were photographing as many waterfalls as I could and exploring Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this blog post, I’ll share my favorite Iceland photos. Even though I only spent two days in Iceland, it was long enough to get a feel for this rugged, northerly island nation and its awe-inspiring nature. It’s another country I can now check off my list, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be back in the future.

Having driven the Golden Circle, I now really want to see the rest of the country as well. I’m sure I’ll be back there before long. (Its location between North America and Europe is just too convenient for me not to take advantage of.)

For now, join me in reminiscing about two beautiful, well-filled days of road tripping around southwestern Iceland.
