Irish Heritage – A Photo Essay

From the legends of the early Mesolithic settlements and the folklore of Gaelic Ireland to invasions by the Vikings, the rise of Christianity, feudal wars and civil wars; the history of Ireland has been violent, fascinating and complicated. Luckily there still are many remaining buildings, ruins, castles and forts to help us understand and to allow us to look back at how things were hundreds or even thousands of years ago.

That Kylemore Abbey in Connemara shot is great, well they're all great but that one in particular is awesome. I love how the Abbey is resting at the base of that lush green mountain.

That was definitely an interesting place to visit. The guy built that massive building as a wedding gift to his wife.
