Irish Heritage – A Photo Essay
From the legends of the early Mesolithic settlements and the folklore of Gaelic Ireland to invasions by the Vikings, the rise of Christianity, feudal wars and civil wars; the history of Ireland has been violent, fascinating and complicated. Luckily there still are many remaining buildings, ruins, castles and forts to help us understand and to allow us to look back at how things were hundreds or even thousands of years ago.
Let’s take a look at the wonderful Irish heritage in this new photo essay.
This is the second in a series of three photo essays about Ireland. The first one was about the colorful and lively Irish Streets.
(UPDATE: The third one is about the stunning Irish Coast.)

That Kylemore Abbey in Connemara shot is great, well they’re all great but that one in particular is awesome. I love how the Abbey is resting at the base of that lush green mountain.
That was definitely an interesting place to visit. The guy built that massive building as a wedding gift to his wife.
I love all the history you managed to capture! My personal favorite is Ballycarbery Castle… or what’s left of it :-p
Cheers, Dan!
Gorgeous photos. Liked it so much! 🙂
I’m glad you liked them, Michael 😀
Gorgeous photos Bram! You expect Ireland to be gray and moody, but it is incredibly striking when the skies are blue!
