In a Facebook post, the U.S. Department of the Interior shared its appreciation for a few specific holiday decorations at the White House this year. “We are incredibly honored that the White House featured our nation’s public lands in this year’s holiday decorations,” the agency said.
This year’s White House holiday decorations theme is ‘We The People’, words that symbolize the very foundation of the United States and the Soul of the Nation.
“Each room and design element throughout the White House holiday décor represents what brings us together during the holidays and throughout the year,” the White House says on its website.
And indeed, every room in the White House has its own specific theme. Of particular interest to national park fans is the East Room, where the fireplace mantels display four iconic American national parks.

The four national parks featured in the White House holiday decorations are:
- Grand Canyon National Park,

“As the largest room in the White House, which itself is also part of a national park, the East Room hosts public receptions, ceremonies, bill signings and other memorable occasions,” the Department of the Interior said in its Facebook post.
“It also features a portrait of President Theodore Roosevelt, who helped establish 5 national parks, 51 federal bird reserves, 4 national game preserves and 18 national monuments on over 230 million acres of public lands.”
